I LOVE this book! It's about a girl Emily Windsnap, who never learned how to swim because her mother doesn't allow her. One day, her mother finally agreed and Emily took swimming lessons at school. However, something strange happened. When her legs touched the water, they became a tail! Emily is a mermaid! She kept this a secret and went swimming in the sea every night. She met another mermaid, Shona. Emily and Shona discovered that Emily's father, a merman, had fallen in love with, Mary, Emily's mother twelve years ago. Mermaids and mermen can't fall in love with humans, so Emily's father ended in the prison and Emily's mother had lost her memory. Emily and Shona worked together to save Emily's father and had some adventures. In the end, they lived together in the sea. I recommend this book if you love fantasy, especially mermaids. I hope you enjoy it!

For as long as she can remember, twelve-year-old Emily Windsnap has lived on a boat. And, oddly enough, for just as long, her mother has seemed anxious to keep Emily away from the water. But when Mom finally agrees to let her take swimming lessons, Emily makes a startling discovery — about her own identity, the mysterious father she’s never met, and the thrilling possibilities and perils shimmering deep below the water’s surface. With a sure sense of suspense and richly imaginative details, first-time author Liz Kessler lures us into a glorious undersea world where mermaids study shipwrecks at school and Neptune rules with an iron trident — an enchanting fantasy about family secrets, loyal friendship, and the convention-defying power of love.

Just a 7th grader girl, Emily Windsnap, who actually never learned how to swim or even in the water because her mother, Mary Penelope doesn't want her daughter to be in the water, swimming until finally when Emily was in 7th grade, her mother had finally gave in and let her take the swimming lessons at her school until something unusual had happened, she had actually became a mermaid! And she now swimming at the sea and ran into the girl, Shona Silkfin, which is also mermaid too herself. As said few times in book, there is a man, Mr. Charles Beeston whose smile always give Emily a cold shivers right in her spine. And then even more shocking is that Emily had said that he doesn't have father because hers disappeared about 12 years ago in the book and finally found him, alive but in the prison. Emily's father, Jake, had always dreamed a lot about his daughter and wife but Mary Penelope gotten wiped out of the memory drug but now remembered her husband... This book is awesome. It is a fantasy book, with, well, mermaids. I highly recommend this book. (I just found out that it is a whole series and am super excited to read the new books!!)
It is a really good book and I would recommend this book for ages 10+ it has a lot of chalenges you might say.
Not true, I would recommend this book for kids ages 7-10. I loved this book when I was younger, so I decided to review it today. It was still pretty entertaining, but I finished it within half an hour, and it didn't leave much of an impact on me. So if you're in elementary, this is a great choice for you!
