A beautifully heartfelt story about one boy’s journey toward acceptance. A book that Jill Soloway, the award-winning creator of Transparent, called “a terrific read for all ages” and Ami Polonsky, author of Gracefully Grayson, called “an emotionally complex and achingly real read.”

Twelve-year-old Shane Woods is just a regular boy. He loves pitching for his baseball team, working on his graphic novel, and hanging out with his best friend, Josh. But Shane is keeping something private, something that might make a difference to his friends and teammates, even Josh. And when a classmate threatens to reveal his secret, Shane’s whole world comes crashing down. It will take a lot of courage for Shane to ignore the hate and show the world that he’s still the same boy he was before. And in the end, those who stand beside him may surprise everyone, including Shane.

I loved this book a lot. It tells you the perspective of transgender people, and how they are just normal people. I feel like people don’t really understand trans people, and how they feel, so this book helps people understand.

The Other Boy is a heartfelt story about a transgender girl, Shane, who struggles to open up to her acquaintances about her 'secret'. This story talks about other things as well such as bullying. I like how the book includes little comic strips at the end of each chapter. I would definitely recommend this book to 11+. I also think this book should be read in middle schools to show kids how everyone is perfect the way they are and to show that there are always different prospectives.

I read this book among others but I liked this the best because it tells of a boy named Shawn who is a girl but is also a boy he likes to write comics but a boy does't like him so he try's to get Shawn's secret out to the school but Shawn is strong he won't give up.
