After the bleak and repressive society of the Giver, here is a society that is too wild, where one must fight to survive, and those who can claw their way to the top are the victors. Kira was born crippled, so they wanted to toss her into certain death via mauling by Beasts in The Field, but her mother was strong and fought them off. Now her mother is dead, dead of a mysterious illness, and they want her in The Field. They take her to the Council Edifice, where the powerful Council of Guardians decide whether she lives or dies. A powerful figure comes to her aid: it is Jamison, assigned by the Council to be her Protector. He defends her, saying that her incredible talent in weaving more than makes up for her crippled leg. Kira is tasked by the Guardians with an important task: she must repair the robe of the Singer, who retells her village's history annually. She goes with her friend, the scruffy Matt, to her new quarters in the Council Edifice, where she meets the Carver, a boy around her age who carves the Singer's staff. She learns the art of dyeing from Annabella, a wise elder. However, something's not right. She and Thomas soon meet a tyke named Jo, who is gifted with Singing. Unlike them, though, she is not allowed to leave, she is locked in her room. IS there something the Council's not telling them? I found this novel to be good, but not that good. Warning: it ends on a not really cliffhanger per se, but it certainly urges you, practically forces you to read the next book. It was a real pleasure reading about Kira getting saved and trying to protect herself against her enemies, at the beginning. But the book sort of died out in the middle, with unease being introduced slowly, bit by bit, until the semi-explosive resolution. All in all, it would have been much better if the pacing was a little quicker. It was a companion, not a sequel: you won't be seeing Jonas or the others in this book. All in all, I liked how it had a bigger emphasis on teamwork, friendship, etc., especially between Kira and that little boy named Matt, who has a very interesting way of speaking and an optimistic outlook on life. By the end, you will realize that though the societies from this book and The Giver are outwardly different, they have a similar warning: choose who you trust, for they may be lying. A final note: I don't think this book was all that dystopia as The Giver (now that was a masterpiece dystopian novel): it reads more of a novel about overcoming your defects, both physical and mental, by relying on your friends. If you liked The Giver, you really NEED to read this book (and the rest of the books in the series.)

This is the first book of this serie, and I like it the most because it's most original, and that's when everything happened, the truth is revealed. So, this is about a boy named Percy Jackson. All his life is boring, he lives with his mom, and mean step father that always beat up his mom and him. He was told that his dad left him since he's only a baby. he has difficulties reading english, because the words always change into different patterns he always thought that he has ADHD. Until one day, when he went on a field trip to a museum. A teacher asked Percy for a private talk and transformed into a monster and tried to kill him, because she thought that he's the lightning thief (the person who stole the lightning bolt from Zues). And then he found out that he's actually a half blood, half god (Poseidon), half human, and his best friend Grover is a half goat to protect Percy. After what happened in the museum, Percy is no longer safe, so he went to the half blood camp thing so that it will protect him. And later on this story, he will find the real lightning thief, return the bolt back to Zeus which saved the peace of Earth know as the human world. I really love this book, because it's very intense, and its about Greek mythology which I'm pretty interested in, love the movie too! Enjoy.

I love the wimpy kid books! They're all very funny, and they have great plots throughout the story. Here are some of my favorites in the series: Old school, Double down, Diary of a Wimpy kid, and Dog Days. I always read the Wimpy kid books in my spare time. But I recommend reading the books to yourself because tbh it doesn't have much words and when I was first introducing the book to my friend I read it aloud and my friend didn't like the book as much as she does now when she reads them to herself my other friends also agree that reading it to yourself makes the wimpy kid book seem better. But overall I love reading the wimpy kid books, the characters are very funny, I also like the movies, probably not as much as I like the books though because the books are sooooo good.

This story keeps people wondering,what is going to happen next.It is enjoyable as well as very nicely written.It is mainly wrote around the perspective of Raven Queen(daughter of the Evil Queen) and Apple White(daughter of Snow White). The day of Legacy Day brings fear and joy to Apple`s mind. That day she will pledge her destiny,become the next Snow White and live her own Happily Ever After. On the other hand if Raven does not pledge to be the next Evil Queen and give Apple the poisoned apple it could mean a Happily Never After for both of them. The End is just the beginning...

There are five books in the Percy Jackson series, and many more books in the series Heroes of Olympus, which is kind of the sequel series to Percy Jackson. Today I will be reviewing the first book. The first book is good, I guess, it's okay. But it didn't appeal to me that much. *SPOILERS BELOW So basically the story centers around a kid named Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson has been expelled from every school he's been to so far because of accidents, like landing the whole class in a shark tank in the aquarium. When his current school, Yancy Academy, goes on a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with his class, including his nemesis, Nancy and his best friend, Grover. His teacher, Ms. Dodds, turns out to be one of the Furies. The Furies are demons, basically, in Greek Mythology. His other teacher, Mr. Brunner, gives him a sword that can be disguised as a pen, called Riptide. Percy defeats Ms. Dodds and sends her back to Tartarus, which is the ultimate-horrible-place-to-go-when-you-die- place. Percy and his mom drive to Montauk Beach, but is met by Grover, who gives them a warning to go back. However, while driving, they are attacked by a Minotaur (monster that is half-bull, half-man.) He takes Percy's mom and Percy kills the Minotaur, before falling with exhaustion. Later, he and Grover are rescued and taken to Camp Half-Blood. While at Camp-Half Blood, Percy discovers that he is a demigod, a son of a mortal and one of the gods/goddesses in Greek Mythology. He also learns that Grover is a satyr (a mythical creature with horse-like features) and that Mr. Brunner is a centaur (half-horse, half-man). He also meets other demigods, like Annabeth, who is a daughter of Athena, Luke, who is a son of Hermes, and Clarisse, who is a daughter of Ares. Since no one knows who his god parent is, they place him in the Hermes cabin. Later, when they play a game of Capture the Flag, a trident appears above Percy, revealing that he is the son of Poseidon. Percy learns that Zeus, the king of the gods, thinks Poseidon used Percy to steal Zeus' lightning bolt, Zeus' chief weapon. The Oracle (a fortune-teller) tells Percy to return the stolen lightning bolt to Zeus to prove that he didn't steal it. Percy then has to go on an odyssey to find the lightning bolt with Annabeth and Grover. Percy, Annabeth and Grover defeat several mythological creatures, including the demon Medusa, who has snakes for hair. Now here's where it gets super confusing - at least for me. The trio find Hades, god of the dead, who has taken Percy's mom because he thinks Percy stole the Helm of Darkness (Hades' most powerful weapon). He says if Percy returns the Helm, Hades will return his mother. Percy realizes that Ares has all the stolen items. The backstory behind that is that when the lightning bolt was stolen, Zeus sent four of the most agile, quick, young and smart gods out to search for it, Apollo, Artemis, Athena and Ares. Only Ares found the true thief, Luke (the son of Hermes) but didn't turn him in. Instead Ares took the lightning bolt and the Helm of Darkness to start a war between the gods (because Ares is the god of war.) Percy challenges Ares to a duel, and surprisingly, wins. After getting all the items and returning them to their rightful owners, (and freeing his mother), Percy, Annabeth and Grover return to Camp Half-Blood. At Camp-Half Blood, Percy doesn't know that Luke is the thief (because Ares left that detail out) but Percy gets it quick enough when Luke tries to kill him with a scorpion. It is also revealed that Luke is a servant of Kronos, the King of the Titans, the enemy of the Gods. After all that, Percy decides to not stay at Camp Half-Blood year-round, only in the summer and to spend the rest of the year with his mother. Okay, here it is. There's a lot of five-star reviews, and I like this book. But it isn't one of my favorites because for one, the characters seem a bit one-sided. Percy's brave, Annabeth's witty, Grover's loyal. That was pretty much everything interesting about the characters. That kicked it down one star. The imagery and world building - amazing. Up one star. Descriptions were pretty good. Up one star. Managed to make my emotions go up and down and all around. One star more. One star less because it was so confusing and generally, I couldn't understand it near the end even though I have a solid base of Greek Mythology. It is a good book, I just feel it could use some improvement. But let's just say this - it's a book that stuck with me through and through and basically, it's worthy of putting on a special shelf on my bookcase. ~FelicisOwl

Runt is a twelve-year-old son of farmer villagers. His best friend is stump who is the son of village bakers. All runt wants is to be a warrior like Steve. his parents (especially his dad) expects him to follow in there foot steps and be a boring farmer. When he learns that the top 5 students (out of 150) will begin warrior training. With the opportunity him and his friend work extra hard, but is it enough for the coming dangers of even to become a warrior? Read this book asap to find out! I just got this book and finished it. Like if you love the summary plz. I worked really hard on this. Here is a summary of it: Fireheart has been made deputy, and Sandstorm is in love with him. But, at the last Gathering, Tigerclaw, the traitor of Thunderclan, has been made leader of Shadowclan! This was the last thing Fireheart wanted, especially after the fire that overtook them. Because Bluestar had breathed smoke, Fireheart had to go in her place. Once he tells Bluestar what happened at the Gathering, Bluestar gets really mad. Over the next period of moons, Bluestar believes everyone have become traitors as well, even Fireheart. The clan is falling apart. The bad thing is, a darkness is laying in the woods waiting for the perfect chance to strike. Food goes missing. Bluestar loses her mind. The hunters have become the hunted, and there's almost nothing they can do to stop it. 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘯...

The Mark of Athena is an amazing book. Sure it has a cliffhanger at the end but who cares. The Mark of Athena is a really good book it has lots of mythology, has characters that are easily relatable to kids, and is really interactive to a reader. This book is best for kids 5th grade - 8th grade. If you like a book with battles and adventure this is a book for you. The characters resemble kids with ADD, and ADHD, those are things. About 4.4 percent of kids have ADD, or ADHD. ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a condition with symptoms such as inattentiveness, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, and ADD is the same thing just a shortened version, it stands for Attention Deficit Disorder. The reason this is mentioned is because all kids need role models when reading. It is really easy for kids that do not have ADHD to find role models in books. The main characters in this book are Leo, Frank, Hazel, Annabeth, Jason, Percy, Piper. They are all early teens and have unique personalities. They all have ADHD, but you will see Leo has it worst.
