Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

Cool I have watched the movie too.

I think this book is really good because first this book shows the character feeling all the time second you can't understand it so much by the text inside the book (so you will keep wanting to read it) third you can understand it by rereading it last,it can teaches you helping others so they will help you when you need help some of the character team up in the story but some of the people that didn't team up get better they think they are in a big group so they are not in danger but they were wrong they only can have 1 winner. The main character(katniss) and (petta) got 1st place by inspiring the boss.

question I wonder what will happen in the next book

The hunger games is about a girl called Katniss, she lives in District 12. There are 12 districts in this country, Panem, and there is a Capital. Every year each district except of Capital will draw out two tributes, one girl one boy, but you can also volunteer. After the tributes are at the Capital, they will train the tributes and when the tributes are in the arena they will kill each other until there is only one victor left. The group draw out Katniss's sister Primrose Everdeen, and Katniss volunteer for her to fight in arena. My favourite character is Primrose Everdeen, because she is caring, and innocent. Even though after watching her sister fought in the arena and watch her sister almost died for countless times. But Primrose stay strong, and support her sister. My favourite part in the story is where Katniss fight for Peeta's medication, because it's very lovely and tell us how important is to have friends that truly likes you. I will recommend people who like action, love, and drama. I love this book, and m

It was so nice that she practically through her life away to protect her sweet sister. Personally I would have never done that.

In my opinion this book was good anndeltailed! I think the author is trying to show people what it is like to face a nightmare and fight through the dark

The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss, who lives in District 12, which is among the 11 other districts that surround the artificial capital, Panem. Katniss finds herself chosen as the girl tribute, for the annual Hunger Games, the form of entertainment and power that Panem portrays when they force the girls and boys to fight to the death. During the Hunger Games, she faces life and death situations, such as a barrage of fiery rocks and the elite Career group. Peeta, the boy tribute for her district, appears to have betrayed her, but surprisingly saves her life afterwards. The turning point, however, is when there is an announcement that both tributes may live. Now Katniss and Peeta must work together to survive, while playing out a acted 'love' story to keep the capital entertained. This was a good book, the plot and the element of the real danger of the capital. I just really didn't like the idea of the Hunger Games itself- hopefully humanity will never become so barbaric.

I READ THIS BOOK ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO... whoops caps... Anyways, it was a very enjoyable, yet sad, tale about our protagonist, Katniss, and how she survives the Hunger Game. Can't wait to read the next!
