Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

This is a dystopia/utopia type book. YOU WILL LOVE IT! You're especially going to love the Mockingjay symbol. This is one of my favorite books!

This book is an awesome book. It was so good, I would read it while my parents thought I was asleep!

I am DYING to read this book!!!!

I LOVED this book the movie was better than the book but I think that the hunger games movie was better than the 2nd one catching fire. but the absolute best book of the hunger games trilogy was mockingjay, I mean this book has something for everyone, they all do, but mostly this one! it has war , action, a little romance, rebellion against the capitol, katniss, peeta, AND IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT STOP READING NOW!!!!!! prim, yes, poor precious primrose Everdeens death.......... a happy ending, but most of all LOTS of excitement and fear then happiness our favorite character didn't die, unless ur fave was prim, president snow, and way more people!!! overall it was an awesome book that you ahould read if you haven't already!!! : )

hot chick hot chick

Good book

This book was amazing I love the plot and the dysptopian parts of the book . I will also be team peeta foreva

i feel soooooooooooooooooo bad for Rue's family too bad she died

Oh. My. Gosh. I am obsessed. Best. Book. EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I thought I wouldn't like it, because I'm not the kind of person that likes apocalyptic books, but for this book I just couldn't stop reading. Every chapter got more and more exciting, and I finished it in one day! Katniss is so awesome, but I liked Rue the best. I wish she and Katniss could have won instead SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY, STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE REALLY MAD AT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!! of Peeta and Katniss, though. Ok, so here is the summary. Katniss lives in District 12, the poorest district. She hunts illegally with her friend Gale to keep her, her mom, and her incredibly awesome sister, Prim, alive. There is this thing called the hunger games (hence the title) where a girl and a boy from each of the 12 districts get chosen to go into an arena and fight to the death. The winner becomes rich and famous. When Prim's name gets picked, Katniss panics. She volunteers as tribute, so instead of her 12 year old sister, she goes into that arena with a boy named Peeta. She has an incredibly sweet memory of this boy saving her life by giving her burnt bread, but that's all she knows about him. At the capitol, she becomes really popular when her stylist decides to set her on fire as an opening act. Everyone loves her, which becomes helpful, because if people think she'll win, they give her money, so her mentor can send her stuff throughout the games. When she enters the arena, she doesn't get any weapons, but she runs away, so she does not die with the other 11 tributes that were killed in the first day. She survives for a while, but pretty soon she needs an ally. She teams up with a very physically weak but very smart girl named Rue (definitely my fave character!!!!!) They work well together, and Rue heals Katniss's wounds, but AGAIN, SPOILER ALERT!!!!! Rue gets killed. Katniss is hearbroken. By then, there aren't many left. She joins Peeta, and they have to pretend they are in love for a complicated reason (you have to read the book if you want to know). Peeta is badly hurt, well, actually dying. I'm not going to tell you any more. Read it! It is unbelievably awesome!

I KNOWWWWWW I love katniss!!!!

Oh, and I also really liked Foxface. I was so sad when she died!

I really want to read this book. A lot of people like it, and it looks pretty interesting. I'm not sure about the movie though . . . but I am completely sure about reading the book!

OMG I loved this book. I'm a really slow reader and i finished this book in 2 DAYS!!!!
