That same night, the baby's father, Silas Heap, comes across an abandoned child in the snow—a newborn girl with violet eyes. Who is this mysterious baby girl, and what really happened to the Heaps' beloved son Septimus?

The first book in this enthralling series by Angie Sage leads readers on a fantastic journey filled with quirky characters and Magykal charms, potions, and spells. Magyk is the original story of lost and rediscovered identities, rich with humor and heart.

I've read the whole Septimus Heap series and I absolutely love it. It is about a land with alchemists, wizards, and common people. Every single one of the books has a twist in it, and that keeps me reading even when the book gets a bit boring.

I'm going to start and I'm counting on it to be awesome.

It is a great book.

I think this book is the best in the series because it is the first one and the first one is always the best.

i decided to read this book because my cousin and my aunt read the whole series and said it was really good so i have started reading the series and i am on book 2 (Flyte By: Angie Sage) and i highly recommend both of them, i have laughed out lou and started tearing up, i hope you enjoy them as much as i do

good book, very funny full of mystery adventure magk and fun.one of my favorite .series. Thay swear once.good read other than that.

Oh. My. God. I didn't read this series since last year, because over the summer I was too busy playing. :/ but now I remembered..... it was the best book EVER. This book was mostly about the Heap Family. They had a/the seventh son of the seventh son, which makes him really powerful. I'll give spoilers at the end. :D I sorta forgot what the book was about, so I'll give away Spoilers now. OK, DON'T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON'T WANT A SPOILER! So, Boy 19 (or whatever it is) is Septimus Heap, not that Darke apprentice. Oh, and Jenna is the Princess (you should already know that) and a spoiler from the next book: Simon becomes evil, and runs away. I won't give anymore spoilers now.

I think that this was a really good start to the series. When I read the first page I immediately wanted to know what happened to the baby that Silas found in the snow. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes Harry Potter.

Angie Sage is as much a wizard as the people she describes! I could not drop the book. You go up up up up up up up up up with the plot, reach a turning point, and then leap down the rest.

I've read all six books, and they are amazing. I love fantasies anyway, so this was the book I was looking for! Actually, judging by the length and the cover, I was pretty sure it was a difficult book, but no, it wasn't! It was just so exciting to read it!
