The moment they saw each other, Bean and Ivy knew they wouldn't be friends. But when Bean plays a joke on her sister, Nancy, and has to hide quick Ivy comes to the rescue, proving that sometimes the best of friends are people never meant to like each other. Vibrant characters and lots of humor make this a charming and addictive introduction to Ivy and Bean.

I did not like this book a lot. I really did not like the plot of this book and this book had too much chemistry for me. There are two main characters: Ivy and Bean. Ivy: A quiet, intelligent child who loves reading books. She has fiery orange hair and is always wearing a headband of blue, pink , or purple. Her favorite color is pink. Bean/ Bernice Blue: A girl who is totally different from Ivy. She is very rebellious, rambunctious, and devious. Bean has blackish brown hair and hates wearing any kind of dresses or skirts being a tomboy. She loves the color green. Overall, I don't like this book and I do not recommend it.
I think this story is very ironic to be honest. I doubt this was a good sentence to open with... but trust me... you'll see what I mean once you read this story. Also this is NOT a negative review... I just thought this would the perfect senses to describe my raw emotions after reading this book... in fact I have conflicted emotions... Crazy.. huh?? So once Ivy and Bean met... they thought they were the complete opposite... but in fact they were quite analogous to each other... wanting to be a witch or a ghost... they have sort of quite similar factors... Of course the illustrations brought a smile to my face and I did laugh at some parts when they were a bit naughty... okay fine... really naughty... but I was confused... When I was their age I don't remember saying these words or playing jokes XD... but I do remember my lively imagination.... Also this book is for a younger age... so it makes sense for what I'm saying.. but I'm not stopping you to read this book... because if it brought a smile to my face.. you'll probably grin as well. Enjoy!
This book was great. It talked about how close friends can get and how a real relationship through friendship is. Not to much of light readers.
This is one of my favorite books! I love all the books in the Ivy + Bean series! I love reading about all the adventures the best friends go on together!
This book is a book about two girls, Ivy and Bean who weren’t friends but became friends just by casting a spell on Nancy, Bean’s sister. This was how it began. For days Bean’s mother has been telling Bean that she should play with the new girl Ivy across from the street. For days and days, Bean has been saying no. One day, Bean decided to bug Nancy. She planned a trick. Instead of Nancy freaking out, Bean got into trouble. She ran away so she wouldn’t get in trouble. She was right in front of Ivy’s house. “Hide.” Ivy said. Bean forgot that Ivy was watching everything. Ivy took Bean to somewhere to hide. Later Ivy and Bean agreed to cast a dancing spell on Nancy. Ivy was learning how to become a witch, she also wanted to be one when she grew up. Afterwards, they realized that they had fun together so they became friends at last.
It was a short read. It was an ok book because I did not like that Ivy & Bean were playing pranks on Bean's big sister.
Ivy + Bean is a lighthearted book about two very different girls who become friends. Bean or Beatrice, is a tomboy who likes to borher her older sister. Ivy is the opposite and is a practicing witch. Ivy + Bean is the first installment of a series of hilarious books about friendship.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I like how even though Ivy and Bean are very different from each other they still have things in common and are best friends. I love reading about all the adventures they have together!
