Move over Diary of a Wimpy Kid―there's a new journal in town and it belongs to Ratchet.

"A book that is full of surprises...Triumphant enough to make readers cheer; touching enough to make them cry." ―Kirkus, STARRED Review

If only getting a new life were as easy as getting a new notebook.
But it's not.

It's the first day of school for all the kids in the neighborhood. But not for me. I'm homeschooled. That means nothing new. No new book bag, no new clothes, and no new friends.

The best I've got is this notebook. I'm supposed to use it for my writing assignments, but my dad never checks. Here's what I'm really going to use it for:

Ratchet's Top Secret Plan
Turn my old, recycled, freakish, friendless life into something shiny and new.

This Florida State Book Award gold medal winner is a heartfelt story about an unconventional girl's quest to make a friend, save a park, and find her own definition of normal.

Loved it. The journal format was fun too.

I think it is a magical book.

Why is it a magical book

Ratchet ( Rachel) is a not normal girl. For one thing she helps her dad fix cars and is really good at it, also all her stuff comes from the good will, she has never gone to school in her whole life and has never had a friend, and it doesn't help that her dad looks like a young Albert Einstein who loves nature and always is doing stuff to protect the world.Ratchet's dad is trying to save the park in their neighborhood but while doing so he is arrested for stealing for a sentence he has to do community service by teaching the Go Cart Class how to build their cars. Can Ratchet find a friend at the class or is she doomed to be the weirdo forever? The story is told from Ratchet's Language Art's Journal. This story is very good it made me feel all the emotions that Ratchet was feeling at that moment and I really got into the story. If you haven't read this book you definitely should.

This book reminds me of why I should never wish to be homeschooled. It's one of my favorite books. 4/5 I don't really like that she's writing in a Journal. I wished she wrote in a diary instead, but otherwise I like it. I hope you do, too.

This is a good book by Nancy Cavanaugh. I wouldn't recommend this book, but it's good anyways. Thanks for reading my review and have a goody jolly day. LOL

i loved this book and recommended to my friends because it had a usual family drama in which many teens can relate and it had a very interesting story line that kept you wanting to read

All because she is home schooled... She gets no new stuff, has no new friends ( or old ones ) and well life is not the best for her but it was all going to change...

Super super good book I hope that I win it pray for me please please please ! ! !😺 😀 😄 😊

I know I should not judge a book by its cover but by the cover this looks like a really good book. And now I really want to read it.
