In this new stand-alone fairy tale, Princess Annie is the younger sister to Gwen, the princess destined to be Sleeping Beauty. When Gwennie pricks her finger and the whole castle falls asleep, only Annie is awake, and only Annie-blessed (or cursed?) with being impervious to magic-can venture out beyond the rose-covered hedge for help. She must find Gwen's true love to kiss her awake.
But who is her true love? The irritating Digby? The happy-go-lucky Prince Andreas, who is holding a contest to find his bride? The conniving Clarence, whose sinister motives couldn't possibly spell true love? Joined by one of her father's guards, Liam, who happened to be out of the castle when the sleeping spell struck, Annie travels through a fairy tale land populated with characters both familiar and new as she tries to fix her sister and her family . . . and perhaps even find a true love of her own.

I grrew up with my mom reading me fairy tales like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. This book from the looks of it is going to take the reader to a whole new perspective. I'm guessing that that the girl on the front is awake while everyone is asleep....and that's not the story I remember.
This was a very exciting twist on the classic sleeping beauty. This was also the first book I read by E.D. Baker, with many MANY following
A exciting twist on the classic sleeping beauty. This was the first book I read by E.D. Baker, and many MANY more followed.
This book is a great book. Princess Annie the main characters sister Princess Gwendolyn was cursed and had to fall in a deep sleep for a hundred years. Only a true loves kiss from a prince could wake her up. When that day came, Gwendolyn made her and the whole kingdom fall asleep. Annie was the only one that was awake. Annie was blessed and cursed that magic cannot touch her. Annie and one of her father’s guard Liam, had to find princes to go to their kingdom Treecrest. While then they go on a lot of adventures together.
When Annie was christened her first gift had prevented her from earning any more magical gifts, which was why she was the only one awake in the castle when her Gwennie, Princess Gwendolyn pricked her finger. That is when Princess Annie decides that she is the one destined to say the kingdom ones and for all.... but would it be that easy to find Gwen's true love??
I liked it because it was really princessy. And because it was really fun to hear my mom read. Princess Annie saves her sister and family by finding her sister a prince to kiss.
good book but more for little kids but it is a great book for when you need something to do and your all out or options over all i liked it.
