The Homeless Bird is a story about an Indian girl named Koly who is 13 years old. Koly gets married to a boy named Hari, who she does not know. After the wedding ceremony, though Koly and her family find out that they had been tricked by Hari's parents. This is because Hari was really sick and he needed money for the doctor and for the trip to Varanasi, so a dowry was the only way for them to get the money. The rest of the story is about Koly's challenges with her sass(mother in-law) and sassur(father in-law) and how she survives as a widow. Also, this book provides a lot of information of India's citizens. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, and I recommend that you read it too.

Homeless Bird is a book about a young girl that has to leave her home to have an arranged marriage with a guy she's never met before. When its finally time for the wedding she realizes that she was getting played by the family. The man died there and Koly became a widow. She stayed with her step mom for a long time. She did not like staying there because she was a mean person. Then... oh wait cant tell you anymore about the story so you'll have to read and find out what happens. I did not like this book because there was alot of twist to the story that I did not get, but you might like the book! Read this book to have an adventure packed time.
Homeless Bird is a novel about a young girl who is about to leave her family for an arranged marriage with someone she has never met before. Her husband, though, wasn't what she expected. The family only wanted her for the rupees. It turns out, her sass was very mean and not appreciative. Koly has a terrifying fate ahead of her. First becoming a widow, then being alone in the city, Koly becomes very independent. Overall, even though it was a well written book that makes you appreciate everything you have, I did not like this book. It was very predictable because they gave away a lot of details and the plot. Also, sometimes confusing when the plot would switch from idea to idea and use a lot of Indian words that I didn't understand.
Like many other books this is a story of an unfortunate tragedy with a fairytale ending. Throughout the book the author keeps your attention and reminds you of the scenario so that you are not confused. It however does give away many of the details in the story, that may have been meant for a unexpected twist, so it won't keep you guessing which makes it an easy read but takes out much of the thrill and mystery. Overall I found it very predictable. On the other hand I found the book to be a page turner that kept you reading. Its sure to be a read you won't soon forget. One detail I loved about the book is it describes India today. It gives you a piece of mind and makes you appreciate everything you have, and reminds your some have nothing. The story also was an inspiration to me. The main character, Koly was not only strong and tough but kind hearted and wise. With these qualities I found myself almost caring about the character and wanting to make sure she turned out okay. This alone can make Homeless Bird a instant favorite. Overall the book was a great read an any reader is sure to enjoy it.
Homeless Bird is a book you won’t forget! It is about a young Indian girl who has an arranged marriage. She has to be very strong to face all of the curve balls that come her way throughout the story. Although it has some sad elements in the end everything is alright. Homeless Bird is an attention grabber page turner. It combines a dash of sadness with amazing detail about India and how the world of Indian girls is so different than the world we are blessed to live in. Although it had a fairly obvious ending it was a fun and easy read that taught me a lot about India. Overall Homeless Bird is a predictable easy read that gives you better understanding of the Indian culture.
