In this mischievous and utterly original debut, Hansel and Gretel walk out of their own story and into eight other classic Grimm-inspired tales. As readers follow the siblings through a forest brimming with menacing foes, they learn the true story behind (and beyond) the bread crumbs, edible houses, and outwitted witches.

Fairy tales have never been more irreverent or subversive as Hansel and Gretel learn to take charge of their destinies and become the clever architects of their own happily ever after.

this book is amazing! I just started and I love it! totally recommend this book for all to read!

This book was very good. Full of adventure, friendship, and blood. I would recommend it to readers in fourth or fifth grade and above.

So far this is my favorite book. This book cant get any better. i am almost done with the book 2 more chapters left. Love the book

Woah. This was quite a ride. Well, there was a lot of blood and creepy things. Although I loved the fairytale twist, it was a teeny bit too intense for my taste. I'm not completely used to horror and creepy things. Gidwitz did an awesome job nevertheless. He described everything in detail, and I love that about an author. I would recommend this mostly to people from the ages of 10 to 12.

The best part about this story is the weaving of so many fairy-tales within it. I love how Gidwitz takes the whole story back toward the original tales (yes, especially the gruesome bits). Hansel and Gretel are two kids who have certainly outgrown the Disney versions of fairy-tales.

This story was a lot more dark and gory then I thought it would be, but I really enjoyed reading it and I loved the narration in it.

I highly recommend this book to the following types of people: Quiet People looking for some excitement, Loud People who like Blood and Gory, or People just looking for a good book. This is a wonderful book.
