  Come on, lets keep this active!! Just curious, what is everyone doing for school?? The schools in my district have started opening this month and middle school (I'm supposed to be in middle school) starts Monday. I am sadly not going because my parents think it is best for my brother and I to stay in our home school program. But a lot of my friends are going and I'm really curious to see how it will work. Schools have not been open here since last March.

    Hi! I am in middle school as well and they were online through August to October. Then some people could go back in person (Like me!) and some could stay online. Sadly they closed in the end of November because of high COVID rates. I don't think we'll be back in person any time soon, but it was fun while we were in person!

    I would recommend these historical fiction books: For Middle school and up I would recommend The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, The Perfect Horse: The Daring U.S. Mission to Rescue the Priceless Stallions Kidnapped by the Nazis by Elizabeth Letts, Unbroken By Laura Hillenbrand, SGT. Reckless by Robin Hutton, Gone With The Wind by Margret Mitchell, Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, Ghost Riders by Mark Felton, Don't Give Up, Don't Give in By Louis Zamperini, The Librarian of Auschwitz by Antonio Iturbe, and The Boys in the Boat by Gregory Mone. For Elementary School readers, I'd recommend Little House On The Prarie, The Island Of The Blue Dolphins, The War That Saved My Life, Anne of Green Gables, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Black Beauty, and Carolynn Kenne's Nancy Drew.       Great ideas!!! Off the top of my head, maybe more though, out of those I have read: Fever 1793, Little House on the Prairie, Island of the Blue Dolphins, The War That Saved My Life, (that's one of my favorites!! read it many times!!) and The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I asked for the Outsiders for Christmas but sadly did not get it, so I will have to borrow it from a friend of mine the next time I see her. I will look at the other ones online and see if I want to read them :)

        Oh, The Outsiders. I've read it over 15 times- it never gets old. Makes me cry every time! Usually, I am able to maintain my composure when it comes to books (I find myself crying over a book maybe once or twice a year) but it gets me every time- and hold on to your seats, it's usually full-fledged sobbing. I have never been so changed by a single book. That book has made me a better person.

          It does tend to get a lot of hate, but it is historically accurate.

          I read it once, but I wasn't the biggest fan. But that's just my opinion, so if you think you'd like it defiantly check it out!

          Haven't read it in a while, but I remember it being kind of.... gory, like there was a LOT of sickness and it was gross. But it was an important part in history, so I'll probably read it again. I think you should try it!!

      That's a good goal!! Does 'new' mean books you have not read?? That's a great goal then :) I read 100 books a couple summers ago as my summer reading challenge to myself and I actually did get it!! It involved reading 24/7 the week before school started up again though lol :)
