This book sounds and looks very interesting by the title, but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, so I read some reviews, and heard some from friends, and this just might be my next favourite book.

This is a great book to introduce kids to cultural revolutions. As a North American of Chinese descent, I related a lot to this book, as it is now one of my favourites. It had some new vocabulary, but you got the gist of the overall meaning.

Well, I don’t, but I am very familiar with it since, my grand uncle practiced it a lot when I visited. I would recommend you reading The Journey To The West, which talks about a group of god who got banished from the sky lands because they committed sins, so the have to follow a monk on a journey from China to India, with monsters and obstacles crossing their pathes, in order to show the gods can be responsible and controlled; but I don’t think you would have time, so there is a Netflix show called The New Legends Of Monkey, which kind of skins the story and changes some plots, changes genders of certain characters, and puts a very western twist on it. Anyway, that is all I have to recommend to you.

(I’m in the 6th grade)I want this book because, when I first looked at the cover, it reminds me very much of previous adventurous book that I read. For example: Harry Potter trilogy of 9, Percy Jackson trilogy of eight, the Hunger Games trilogy, and A Series Of Unfortunate Events trilogy of 19. I also looked the books up and saw that it has won numerous awards. I also saw that many reviews said that the main character learn about “moral dilemmas”, and I love lots of development in an indecisive character. I also know that one of my friends has read this series, and she tells me all about with excitement and joy, and I, of course want to feel that same kinds of joy this book brought to her. So, winning this would be a delight for me.

(I’m in the 6th grade.)I want this book because, I think that, a laugh over the winter break is going to make countless precious memories when I tell my friends the crazy adventures the characters in this book have. I also have read the previous book, and loved it! I can’t wait to see what these character have in store for me!

This book did not give us enough time to get emotionally attached with the main characters. It was also a bit outdated considering that it was published in the 1970s. The book also rushes through events a bit. I would recommend watching the movie after of before reading the book, since the author doesn’t use too descriptive writing in the particular book. Nonetheless, it is a a great book overall, it could just use some more modern tweaks and edits.

This book doesn’t describe the overall setting thoroughly enough that, so the depiction of the book’s setting, might vary depending on the readers perspective. The were also lots of thing that Brian could’ve done to prevent worse situations; like the time he started the fire; most scouts/outdoorsman should know that to start a fire you should start off the fuel with the same amount of (estimated) mass, as your heat source. We also know that Brian’s mom thought of him as a scout, and that he watched lots of camping television. So, it would’ve been common knowledge for him. The book is also a bit irrelevant and outdated, since it was published in the 1970s. But, with a few more modern twists, it could help relate Brian to today’s kids.
