All in all, Undying Glory by Clinton Cox is a very good book. My rating is a solid 9/10, and here’s why. Undying Glory tells the story the Massachusetts 54th Regiment, the first troop of African American soldiers. First thing’s first, this book tells the story of the 54th perfectly. Being a nonfiction story told by Clinton long after the events happened, the wording makes it seem like the story is told from the point of view of an immediate bystander. Emotion is used perfectly and captures the devastating nature of war. When a character (Whom I will not name because it would spoil the book) dies in the war, it is horrifying because Clinton got the reader so connected with the character. Why was it a nine out of ten instead of a ten? Although being a very powerful story, the story is a little bit hard to follow. Due to the very advanced language of the book, some plot details seem a little bit confusing. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a factual, intense, and powerful story of war. I do not recommend this book for anyone younger than 9, or the faint of heart.

Have you ever had a family member die when you are a young age? Well, in this book Lucky Strikes by Louis Bayard, that's what happens to the mom. Amelia is the protagonist. She has no other family around her besides for her little brother and little sister. So now they have to run their own life running a family gas station and taking care of her brother and sister. How would that feel to you? The antagonist is the father because he left them. They have no money what so ever. She lost half her family no one to help her when she needs help there's nothing. The conflict in the story is Amelia's mom dying the solution is Amelia just going through what happened. In this book the setting is placed at where the mom was buried and at the family gas station and the time of this is in 1934. Two major conflicts in my book are Amelia's mom dying and Amelia's dad leaving her. The turning point in this story is when Amelia overcomes what had happened with her mother and father. I would recommend this book to someone who likes sad stories and maybe even someone who has had a death like that.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get chased by your own dad with a gun. My book is Ghost by Jason Reynolds. The book’s setting is in modern times and it takes place in at the track field and middle school. The protagonist or main character is cash he is a african american boy who runs like no other boy on his middle school elite track team. He calls himself ghost he has two friends and is poor. First conflict is: he really doesn’t have a father figure in his life because his father tried to shoot his mom and him. So they ran to a little general store down the street where Mr.Charles the owner works they hid in back closet from his dad. The second conflict is this bully at school he bullies him about his clothes and that his mom works in a Cafeteria. He attempts to solve one of the conflicts by ignoring the bully but he can’t hold back and knocks the bully on the jaw. I would recommend this book to an audience of a mature level because it has some violence and swears other than that I personally think you should read this book.

I relate to one of these people Tim Howard we both overcame living with Tourette Syndrome. My book is Rising Above How 11 Athletes Overcame Challenges in Their Youth to Become Stars by Gregory Zuckerman. My book took place all over Eastern Hemisphere it is from the 1940s to now. My book is focused on 11 athletes that overcame challenges as kids to get to where they are now. Some interesting facts are that Tim Howard was diagnosed with OCD and Tourette Syndrome. Jim Abbott was a pitcher in the MLB and he only had one arm. Stephen Curry was good at basketball but he was short and scrawny so no college wanted him. Dwyane Wade’s mother was a drug dealer and a drug addict. Dwyane Wade was really good at basketball but no college wanted him because he struggled academically. I would recommend this book to people who like sports and are struggling in their life but it is also for older readers.
