This is an outstanding book about a boy who realizes he has magic within him and gets to attend a supercool boarding school. There he meets new people and has intersting classes all while a silent evil is rising to power.Over 8 years agooptimistic-edit added a new comment in

Cassiopeia is a beautiful queen (but very narcissistic) who was set up in the heavens by Poseidon (cough cough Percy Jackson's dad) to become a constellation after boasting too much. Even though Cassie is named after Cassiopeia, Cassie isn't quite vain... in fact, she is quite intellectual, and you'll learn to love her. I think that girl heroes are awesome... Like the Divergent series... well Tris can really kick butt... and that's the same thing with Cassie... Girls can fight like guys... or maybe even better (now I'm not insulting the guys... I'm just simply stating the truth... okay.. just kidding XD... guys and girls are all awesome)... Anyways... As a teenager (Cassie) thinks about what teenagers normally think about... "OMG, did you see that cute guy!!!" or maybe "I hope I do well on that pop quiz that Mr. Daniels gave me" (now all of these scenarios are stereotypes, so don't take them personally)... but it shows that teenagers don't think about their own death... or even when the world is going to be abducted by aliens... So once the plane came crashing down during school... you can see how everything played out... a hot mess... the first wave came, then the second wave, the third wave, and the fourth wave.. while all the survivors are anxiously waiting for the fifth wave... After these four waves... Cassie becomes tired of running away... her mom passed away from an illness while her father is murdered right in front of Cassie's eyes! After the soldiers, who they say they are, take all the children... including Nugget (Sam, Cassie's adorable younger brother)... Cassie and Evan decides to take their plan in their own hands... There comes a time with many sacrifices.. and this is the time... Cassie must battle through this horrendous generation and help rescue her brother by passing through all these complex technology... but can she trust Evan... Who is Evan??? Will Cassie ever find Sam??? Or will he be lost like the other children??? Well to answer these questions... you must read this amazing book to find out... So i really liked this book... it had me hooked to the beginning and end.... there is no part in the book that'll make you feel bored... because the author makes this book so realistic (I know the end of the world... but the author really pulls you in) that it's like your like Cassie's shadow, taking in part of this journey... And one tiny warning... do not pronounce Cassie like Cass- ee- oh- PEE- a... it drives her crazy... But if you want adventure and suspense leading you on every page... this book is perfect for you!Over 8 years agooptimistic-editliked a comment in The 5th Wave.
Aliens invade Earth… check, postapocalyptic…check, and awesome story... check. The fantastic book that I am reviewing today is The 5th Wave By:Rick Yancey. Right of the bat I would like to tell you that this book is truly spectacular and just pure awesome, out of 10 I would give this book a 9.5.The 5th Wave tells the story of a postapocalyptic world brought on by alien invasion. A high school girl named Cassie has to try to save her brother and somehow survive in a world where aliens police the skies with large killer robots. Due to the waves about 1% of the population is left. The problem is that people get taken to a secret military that may or may not actually be the alien’s HQ in disguise. Now let's talk about the main characters, even though Cassie is the narrator Ben Ross and Laurie Sanders are the major characters and the protagonists. I really liked this book for its fast paced writing it did not take long at all to get to the action. This book takes place in the future which makes sense for its dystopian genre and postapocalyptic story. Also, it takes place mostly in a high school. I have not seen the movie so i can't compare or contrast those two. Also, I have never read a different Rick Yancey book so I do not know how he writes. Based on the Fifth Wave I can tell that the Infinite Sea and the third book will be similar. Action packed, fun, and interesting. I would recommend this book to both boys and girls and someone who loves the dystopian genre. All in all this was a superb book and I LOVED it!Over 8 years agooptimistic-editliked a comment in The 5th Wave.
In the science fiction book The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey; Cassie, Ben, and all the other human's lives changed completely on the day the aliens started to make their appearance. I thought the book was a bit of a disappointment because in the beginning I thought it was going to be about how the aliens take over, but the aliens hid in plain sight and acted normal. The people running the camps also seemed too calm about the invasion. There was also not too much action going on (especially in Cassie and Evan's point of views), for example for about all of chapter 36 Cassie was just talking with Evan. So, I rate it three out of five stars. Throughout the book there are different point of views. There was Ben's (aka Zombie) who was the high school football star, but in the end he turned out to be a leader and a solider named Zombie. There was also Cassie who had her whole family , but slowly they one by one trickled away from her. Her mom was dead by the third wave and her dad was killed by some very deceiving men. Then there was Sammy who was taken on a school bus to a "safe" place and was never to be seen again by Cassie possibly until the end. There was also Evan who was supposed to be full on alien, but he still had a little bit of human left in him, which is why he didn't kill Cassie. And last but not least there was Sammy, Cassie's little brother, who was taken to the camp Wright-Patterson to be kept safe, but it was more like an army training camp to toughen kids up. The kinds of people who would like to read this book is people who can follow many perspectives at once and who like reading about alien invasions on totally different level. All these kids think they know everything and honestly they know just the opposite of what's happening.
