Where do dreams come from? What stealthy nighttime messengers are the guardians of our most deeply hidden hopes and our half-forgotten fears? Drawing on her rich imagination, two-time Newbery winner Lois Lowry confronts these questions and explores the conflicts between the gentle bits and pieces of the past that come to life in dream, and the darker horrors that find their form in nightmare. In a haunting story that tiptoes between reality and imagination, two people—a lonely, sensitive woman and a damaged, angry boy—face their own histories and discover what they can be to one another, renewed by the strength that comes from a tiny, caring creature they will never see.

Gossamer is perfect for readers not quite ready for Lois Lowry's Newbery-Award winner The Giver and also for readers interested in dreams, nightmares, spirits and the dream world.

I love this book! It really makes you think deeply about how dreams can help and hurt you. Would definitely recommend!

I rate this book a 4 star because Lois Lowry shows her creativity of dreams and nightmares. I made a connection because John was in a nightmare which would happen to me at least every 2 weeks. This book seeks to tell the origin story of dreams by following a supernatural being called Littlest One, a fairy-like creature who, taking memories from common household objects, uses them to weave beautiful dreams. This is my review on this book, Gossamer.

Lois Lowry did it again! This colorfully-written book tells about the life of a little dream-giver and that of an elderly woman and a boy in foster care. The things I felt and thought felt real and I felt as though I was in the book. I felt like I'd known the characters for years and I knew them like the back of my hand. This book is a five-star story through and through. Very good!

A good book. It tells the story of dream-givers, nightmares and how they help John, an abused and angry foster child.
