A Newbery Honor Book.

Sasha Zaichik has known the laws of the Soviet Young Pioneers since the age of six:
The Young Pioneer is devoted to Comrade Stalin, the Communist Party, and Communism.
A Young Pioneer is a reliable comrade and always acts according to conscience.
A Young Pioneer has a right to criticize shortcomings.
But now that it is finally time to join the Young Pioneers, the day Sasha has awaited for so long, everything seems to go awry. He breaks a classmate's glasses with a snowball. He accidentally damages a bust of Stalin in the school hallway. And worst of all, his father, the best Communist he knows, was arrested just last night.

This moving story of a ten-year-old boy's world shattering is masterful in its simplicity, powerful in its message, and heartbreaking in its plausibility.

Katniss Katniss

It is a really good book, however, it can be sad at times because that is what really happened in that era. 😀 great book

looks like an interesting book.Stukavoch seems nasty haha

I think Breaking Stalin's Nose is very serious but is still appropriate for school. It can get very action packed at times though . The ending is very unsatisfying though... But the book has a terrible character in it his nae is Stukavoch he causes a big problem in the book so watch out for his name! Also this book might change your view of Russia but the time in the book is in the 1950s so they don't do these things in Russia now. I hope the people that are reading my review are going to read this book and understand it well. Thank you for reading bye :)

Breaking Stalin's nose is a good book. It has action drama and mystery. You better be on the edge of your seat.Sasha the kid had a rough time the genre historical fiction the book is very suspenseful also if your a big fan of humor don't read this book.To me the book the book is good and bad because it has a good beginning an a bad ending.

this book will have a big effect on you. just watch out for stucachav. This book is one of those books that leave you hanging. The rest of the book was a good book though. This book has a good plot. Some parts make your mouth trop open. The cool thing about this book is it only takes place in two days. This book Breaking stalins nose is a great book I loved it.

I just finished this book.It had big words I couldn't pronounce and didn't know what they meant because I am only in fourth grade but once I knew how to pronounce them and what they meant I really liked how he worded it. The book was called Breaking Stalin's Nose. The author is Eugene Yelchin.(By the way all the names in this book are Russian) It's historical fiction because Stalin is in it and he is history. And it is fiction! The ending was really good. Now if you like cliff hangers and ending with questions this is the book for you!I really liked the way the author left me and my group asking questions. I loved the whole book over all because it was action packed and it was packed with surprises! There were very exciting events, plus it was not a list!It seemed that every time the main character/Sasha got one trouble he got a whole load of them!Poor Sasha! You should really read it!

I thought Eugene s Breaking Stalin's nose was really well written. I only gave it 4 stars because the ending leaves you hanging. Warning watch out for Stukachov. Hes bad news. This historical fiction book is good enough to read again and again but I would skip the ending. Also there are lots of surprises. And there's some for shadowing to look for. Also Sasha has some trouble unavailing really serious stuff. Thats all im going to say.I highly recommend this book. Its really interesting and it teaches you about the Soviet Union. I just wanna say one more thing. Eugene is a genius! And you should try this book.It is so good it deserves the William Allen White award. I would read it instead of eating vegetables And not just because I hate vegetables. Its a really good book. I really really liked it. Im pretty sure you will to...
