As a kid, Jackie Robinson loved sports. And why not? He was a natural at football, basketball, and, of course, baseball. But beyond athletic skill, it was his strength of character that secured his place in sports history. In 1947 Jackie joined the Brooklyn Dodgers, breaking the long-time color barrier in major league baseball. It was tough being first- not only did "fans" send hate mail but some of his own teammates refused to accept him. Here is an inspiring sports biography, with black-and-white illustrations throughout.

It college he played basketball . And met his soon to be wife Rachel . They he played football. Then he got to play on a team for baseball . But Jackie couldn't play the real games . Very good biography about one of the first baseball players of colour

The death rider The death rider

It was a awesome book I loved it so much

I give this a 5 star because, this book is a really good book if you like sports because this book gives a a lot of facts about his childhood and what he did .Jackie Robinson loved playing sports in high school he played basketball, football, tennis, and other sports but then he decided to play baseball as his sport to succeed in he got drafted to and MLB played on the Dogers, and when he retired he became a hall of famer.

I give this book a 5 star because I really liked how they explained about his whole life. The connection I made with this book is that it mentioned that he plays basketball, and so do I. This book talks about his childhood and has he got older to be the first African american in the MLB(major league baseball).when Jackie got to be in high school he played basketball, baseball, tennis, etc. when he got older he was drafted into the MLB. He was named in the hall of fame for how good he was.

Jackie Robinson had an amazing strong will. He chose showing his skills over fighting back to prove he was a great ball player.
