Loved this book! It was impossible to put it down. Necromancy is not something I would read about, but this book made me love it. The story was unique and kept me hooked. It moved at a natural pace, making an easier read than an unbearably slow or overly fast book. THe characters were highly realistic which made them easy to relate to. Luke and Elza felt like real high schoolers which made them much easier to connect to. Overall, this book is definitely going on my favorites shelf. Ten out of ten would read again.

In a devilishly dark and funny debut, a teen finds himself the unwitting beneficiary of eight enslaved and angry ghosts seeking bloody vengeance.
When Luke Manchett’s estranged father dies unexpectedly, he leaves his son a dark inheritance: a collection of eight restless spirits, known as his Host, who want revenge for their long enslavement. Once they figure out that Luke has no clue how to manage them, they become increasingly belligerent, and eventually mutiny. Halloween (the night when ghosts reach the height of their power) is fast approaching, and Luke knows his Host is planning something far more trick than treat. Armed with only his father’s indecipherable notes, a locked copy of The Book of Eight, and help from school outcast Elza Moss, Luke has just thirteen days to uncover the closely guarded secrets of black magic and send his unquiet spirits to their eternal rest—or join their ghostly ranks himself.

Loved this book! Such a great read that kept me hooked and wanting more each time I had to put it down. Necromancy is never a topic I would choose to read about, but this book made it work like black magic. The characters were also highly realistic which made them more likeable. Luke and Elza seemed like real high school students which made them so much easier to connect to. Overall, this book was much better than I thought it would be. Definitely would read again.
