Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit who enjoys a comfortable, unambitious life, rarely traveling any farther than his pantry or cellar. But his contentment is disturbed when the wizard Gandalf and a company of dwarves arrive on his doorstep one day to whisk him away on an adventure. They have launched a plot to raid the treasure hoard guarded by Smaug the Magnificent, a large and very dangerous dragon. Bilbo reluctantly joins their quest, unaware that on his journey to the Lonely Mountain he will encounter both a magic ring and a frightening creature known as Gollum.

I am reading this book for my class, and it is definitely not my favorite, but I think a big part of that is because we are reading 1 chapter per week, and I usually read much faster than that so it is hard to keep track of the story. So far, it is pretty exciting, with Bilbo and his friends sneaking into the great dragon Smaug's lair to steal some treasure. I hope that in the end, they all turn out OK and find Gandalf!!!

This is a great book I just picked up and read. I really like the adventure, the thrills, the intrigue, and the poems. It has a lot of poems and songs in it. I really liked and I would read again.
