Riley, a teen orphan boy living in Victorian London, has had the misfortune of being apprenticed to Albert Garrick, an illusionist who has fallen on difficult times and now uses his unique conjuring skills to gain access to victims' dwellings. On one such escapade, Garrick brings his reluctant apprentice along and urges him to commit his first killing. Riley is saved from having to commit the grisly act when the intended victim turns out to be a scientist from the future, part of the FBI's Witness Anonymous Relocation Program (WARP) Riley is unwittingly transported via wormhole to modern day London, followed closely by Garrick.

In modern London, Riley is helped by Chevron Savano, a nineteen-year-old FBI agent sent to London as punishment after a disastrous undercover, anti-terrorist operation in Los Angeles. Together Riley and Chevie must evade Garrick, who has been fundamentally altered by his trip through the wormhole. Garrick is now not only evil, but he also possesses all of the scientist's knowledge. He is determined to track Riley down and use the timekey in Chevie's possession to make his way back to Victorian London where he can literally change the world.

This is the first book I have read by Eoin Colfer and I am sure it will not be the last. He does a good job bringing two different worlds together in a frantic game of cat and mouse.

this is a great book! I really loved the way the author added lots of s pecific det ail! I recommend this book to someone who likes science fiction.

I have heard this book is awesome! I really want to read it! I like reading Stories like this so i am pretty sure this book is great for me!

This book was such a fun read. It starts of with an orphanage boy named Riley, he is an apprentice for Garrick(he's the evil guy who tries to kill everyone) anyways after they got sucked in some time portal they are now in modern London. Riley knows his ways and is trying to get away from Garrick knowing Garrick is going to do something far worse in the 1800's London, meaning he'll do something bad since he can time travel, but he needs Riley. While Chevie(17 year old undercover FBI agent) and Riley are trying to cope and figure this situation out, DUN DUN DUNNNN...

This book is awesome. Riley is a really colorful character. He has many sides of himself. This book is a modern drama and sort of a mystery. All I can say is that this book is really detailed and well written.

We read this book in our book club, apparently only the boys liked it

This tale was kinda odd. This boy, Riley, is apprenticed to this guy who wants him to kill a man but he's stopped by a man from the future who takes him to present day, but they're pursued by Riley's Master who's trying to find a key to take over the world.

I have herd that this is a really good mysterious book. It sounds good just by reading the summary on the back of the book! It is about a girl and boy who live in London and try to capture a criminal. I hope you will enjoy it!
