Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

This is one of the best books I have ever read! I certainly would recommend to those kids that like reading books taking place in a futuristic settings. If you know your one of them, you should definitely read this book!

this book is great the end is the best part hint two people survive cant say who but district twelve has a surviver or more watch the movie if you like to find things out fast enjoy!!!!!!!!!

This is one of my favorite books!

This book is set some where in the future, where war and other natural disasters have taken their toll, leaving behind ashes, destruction and the birth to a new country called Panem, where the people have finally sworn to live in peace with out war; they swore as a nation, to live in peace and harmony. It was a country with 13 Districts surrounding a shining Capitol. Then came the Dark Days, when all the districts rebelled against the Capitol, leading to the loss of more lives of the people of the Districts and war. Finally, the Capitol won, and the Districts were mutilated, and District 13 was completely destroyed. But the Capitol didn't stop there, they also started the cruel practice of the Hunger Games, where all the twelve districts were forced to send one boy and one girl from the ages 12 to 18 to participate in the Hunger Games, (a reminder that how the districts are in the mercy of the Capitol) where the children are sent to a public arena to fight to the death on live TV! Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. Soon, without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But will she win in a place with more larger and well-trained children than her? This book has equal proportions of romance, mystery, suspense, philosophy and adventure, in this brilliantly written novel. If you like science fiction, you sure will like the Hunger Games!
