Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before - and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Collins delivers equal parts suspense and philosophy, adventure and romance, in this searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present.

this is such a good book

theres not much I can say. the movie pretty much says all, but "the book is always better than the movie" so I suggest read the book (series) for the fun of it to compare the two.

It was a really good book, but involved violence, death, and killing. Katniss's younger sister is picked to fight it out till the end in the Hunger games. There are 12 districts, and 2 contestants from each one. But, for the sake of her younger sibling, Katniss volunteers to do it for her. She and another boy named Peeta were shipped to the Capitol to get ready for the games, but some are already forming aliance. But what I kind of don't get is why they form packs to keep each other safe. I mean, they are going to have to kill each other, right?

it is a great book i could never stop reading my mom kept telling me to stop

This book is amazing.

OH MY GOSH!!!!! THIS BOOK HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE BOOK SERIES EVER SINCE I READ IT AND I BECOME THE MOST ANNOYING PERSON EVER WHEN I TALK ABOUT IT BUT OH MY GOSH! Sorry for my outburst but here is my REAL review: So basically it follows Katniss as she tries to survive a fight to the death with 23 other kids ( including Peeta who has had a crush on her ever since they were in kindergarten) that is made for entertainment for the Capitol citizens. I can't' say much more without spoiling everything.

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH! It is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!

it tells a story not like others would. Its a mix of violent and romance

i love this book! it is very violent in a way but amazing in one point of part. I really hope that mocking jay part 2 comes out! i really think that this is a great movie because it shows the team work they have to do during the war district. I personally think it it great!♠
