This adventure story is about a boy who lived in Norway because their parents had died in a car accident and her grandma lived with him. Her grandma told him stories about witches. He didn't believe them but her grandma said that they hated children and they wanted to kill them. They looked like nice beautiful ladies and they tricked everyone but they had know if they were witches. One afternoon he was working on the treehouse that he made with his friend and he saw a lady under the tree that was exactly like grandma described the witches. Could the witch eat him if she was a witch? What would happen? I enjoyed this book because the author uses strange words and I didn't think the ending was going to be as it was. The story is full of intrigue and makes you want to keep on reading it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery stories and books with a bit of intrigue. It is for fourth graders and upper levels, too.

The Witches By: Roald Dahl Reviewed by: Charlotte ( age 9 ) This story is about a boy whose parents died in a car crash so he lives with his granny who is a retired witchophile. One day the boy and his granny go for vacation to Bournemouth. In the hotel, the boy hides in a room where witches had gathered to receive a lecture from The Grand High Witch pretending to be normal ladies from a child charity. Soon the boy is discovered and before he knows he is not his old self.... What do you think that happened to the boy? Will he be able to work it out? If you want to know the answers, read this great book! I enjoyed this book because Roald Dahl explains everything so you can actually imagine the whole thing going on in front of your eyes. Plus, by the time you finished reading this book you totally believe in witches, because they seem so real! My favorite part was the whole book because I loved it!! This book is just right for advanced child readers who love books. You are not going to be able to put this book down, not even for a second!!
