Boys don’t keep diaries—or do they?

The launch of an exciting and innovatively illustrated new series narrated by an unforgettable kid every family can relate to

It’s a new school year, and Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving. The hazards of growing up before you’re ready are uniquely revealed through words and drawings as Greg records them in his diary.

In book one of this debut series, Greg is happy to have Rowley, his sidekick, along for the ride. But when Rowley’s star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend’s newfound popularity to his own advantage, kicking off a chain of events that will test their friendship in hilarious fashion.

Author/illustrator Jeff Kinney recalls the growing pains of school life and introduces a new kind of hero who epitomizes the challenges of being a kid. As Greg says in his diary, “Just don’t expect me to be all ‘Dear Diary’ this and ‘Dear Diary’ that.” Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.

Since its launch in May 2004 on Funbrain.com, the Web version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been viewed by 20 million unique online readers. This year, it is averaging 70,000 readers a day.

Greg Heffley is just another tweenage boy entering middle school. He's the middle child of a classical family and is the best friend to a slightly clueless Rowley Jefferson. Greg's not a jock, or a nerd, or a geek - more like "that boy" in class. You know what I'm talking about. Despite being "the average American," though, Greg sees himself as something special. His egotistical nuances about the little things in life will make anyone's day. A perfect book for those entering the "awkward years" or simply want to relax their mind, the classic diary entry is reinvented in the mind of Greg Heffley.

''Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving.''- This book is the start of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It introduces you to Gregory (Greg) Heffley, his family, and his best friend, Rowley. Greg's mom buys him a journal, so he turns it into his diary where he explains his daily troubles, ranging from his problems at school, to troubles at his house. This book is hilarious, and I recommend it to people who enjoy the Dork Diaries series, and also enjoy other books written by Jeff Kinney. I rate it 5/5. I recommend it to elementary and middle schoolers.

very good book i like the cheese part it was very hilarious i very much recommend the book because it will give you a laugh

I want to read it and I want to see the movie

It looks cool

The first book in Jeff Kinney's series was absolutely amazing, I loved it to the moon and back! It was truly capturing my butterfly attention.

This book is about Greg's first year of middle school. It talks about Greg and Rowley's relationship and it introduces Greg's family. During Halloween. Greg's dad likes to splash teenagers with water. By accident, he splashes water onto Greg. He also joins the safety patrols because he want authority and he wants the perks. I really liked this book because of the humor and fun in this book. I recommend this book to anyone.

SAY CHEESE! SAY CHEESE!

To Sophiefoster10: I think the books was okay, but I didn't really like it as much as I like Dork Dairies. In all honesty, I might find the new book, Diary if an Awesome Friendly Kid, better. I would give this book maybe 2 or 3 stars, but I don't HATE it.

Okay, i'm going to be honest. I always liked diary books, and I am a huge fan of Dork Diaries. So when my friend told me about DOAWK, I decided to check it out. I thought it was okay. It's funny. I like reading middle school books about kids that go through crushes, best friends, families, and middle school. this book was okay, but I like the ones about girls. I would read this book again, though. I give it 3 stars. As to sum it up, it's a nice, funny book. Happy reading! :D
