But now that he's in middle school, avoiding reading isn't as easy as it used to be. And when his friend Timmy McGibney decides that he's tired of covering for him, Charlie Joe finds himself resorting to desperate measures to keep his perfect record intact.

Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to Not Reading by Tommy Greenwald is the hilarious story of an avid non-reader and the extreme lengths to which he'll go to get out of reading a book.

Charlie Joe Jackson absolutely despises reading. He's always found a way of not reading but now that he's in middle school, escaping reading isn't that easy. Timmy McGibney was his super weapon, but now that McGibney has gotten sick of covering for Charlie, Charlie goes to extreme lengths to avoid reading. The book was also pretty humorous but WARNING: DO NOT AVOID BOOKS, THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!

It is really funny, because this boy named Charlie Joe Jackson HATES books. But as he goes along with his teachers that tell him books are important, he starts to read and slowly, he starts to like books, and at the end, he realizes that he was writing a book all along.

This is a really awesome book! I received this from last year's Summer Reading program. This book is about Charlie Joe Jackson, and how he absolutely despises reading. He will do anything to get out of a situation where he has to read. But, since he is now in Middle School, it's harder than ever before. After asking Timmy McGibney to cover for him over and over again, Timmy McGibney finally gives up. He can't anymore. This book is hilarious and I cannot tell you how many times I laughed at this book when I read it. I want to read it over and over again, and this book will tell you what extremes Charlie Joe will go to to not read, and to keep up his record!

This book was amazing! I usually don't like realistic fiction books, but I'll make an exception for this one! It shows the misadventures of Charlie Joe Jackson and at the end, there's sort of a plot twist. Charlie Joe Jackson hates to read and he will do anything so he doesn't have to read, include getting someone else to read it for him and then give him a chapter-to-chapter synopsis. All the while, he is crushing on a girl named Hannah. Let Charlie Joe Jackson take you away on an adventure through middle school!

I recommend this book. In the book, Charlie Joe Jackson tells you how to get out of reading and shows you how he has avoided reading nearly all of his life.

This book is a nice book for when you just want to read something and finish it on the same day. It's about a boy named Charlie who has never read an entire book in his lifetime. He starts middle school, and all that avoiding books changes.Mainly because in Middle school you have to do a lot of reading for comprehension skills. His friend Timmy gives up on him,and stops covering for him.He has to find so many way's to avoid reading entire book. The books is pretty funny, and it's a cool summer read if your bored.I enjoyed the book, and I recommend it for anyone.Don't avoid books like Charlie though.Reading takes you to so many fun places.

I love this book. It is totally awesome. It is a pretty easy and short read. It is on of my top ten books. I recommend this book.

I would recommend this book to kids who are reading and I would not recommend this books to kids who don't read books. This book was fun, had a swirling conclusion and VERY FUNNY!

The reason I gave this book only one star is because I really, really did not like this book! I don't know why you would need a guide to not reading! Because you have to READ the guide to not reading.
