As the German troops begin their campaign to "relocate" all the Jews of Denmark, 10-year-old Annemarie Johansens's family takes in annemaries' best friend, Ellen Roxen, and pretend she is part of the family. Ellen and Annemarie must htink quickly when three Nazi officers arrive late one night and question why Ellen is not blond, like her sisters. Through Annemaries' eyes, we see the Danish Resistance as they manage to smuggle almost the entire Jewish population, nearly seven thousand people, across the sea to Sweden. In this tale of an entire nation's heroism, Lois Lowry reminds us that there is pride and human decency in the world even during a time of terror and war.

i really like this book about historical fiction and this was what the war was like in the past for some countries. I think that this book is very sad but teaches you important things.

This book is about Annemarie. This all starts with her and her friend Ellen. Annemarie is not a Jew but Ellen is. They accidently run into a Nazi solider. Annemarie has to help her friend and their family by pretending to have a funeral but actually sneaking them into the country where they can be free. Annemarie has to be brave for everyone now...

i like this book!

Annemarie Johansen lives in German-occupied Denmark. The Germans have suddenly decided to "Re-locate" the Jews of Denmark. Annemarie's friend, Ellen, is a jew. So when things start to go downhill for the jews in Denmark, Ellen comes to stay with Annemarie's family, acting as Annemarie's sister.

Number the Stars is about a brave girl named Annemarie, who decides that when the Nazis come and take every Jewish person in Denmark, she will be brave and save her friend Ellen and her family who are Jewish.

This is an intense, heartbreaking book full of accelerating heart rates. This book is based on a true thing that happened in history, though the characters are fictional. This book takes place on a girl named Annemarie with her family trying to save her friend, Ellen, and her relatives. All of them are Jews, and when Nazi's populate their hometown, Denmark, things get dark. This is the Holocaust, and they must save the Jews before it is late, including Ellen. I loved it, and hope you will too.

A girl named Annemarie and her BFF Ellen live during the Holocaust in Denmark. Ellen is a jew and is a very sweet girl. One day when Ellen, Annemarie, and Annemarie's little sister were coming home from school and they encounter a Nazi he asks them questions like why were they running but when they got home Ellen's parents were scared because they were Jewish and most Nazi's hated the Jews. Another day when Annemarie can home from school Her parents told her that Ellen would have to stay with them and pretend to be Annemarie's sister t hide from the Nazis but they have to be careful or else the Nazi's will realize Ellen isn't who they say she is.
