Before. Miles “Pudge” Halter is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps” even more (François Rabelais, poet). He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . . After. Nothing is ever the same.

"Looking For Alaska" was an amazing book! I selected this book because a friend suggested it and it's the type of book I can easily get really into. Looking For Alaska is about a guy named Miles who goes to a boarding school and meets the popular, Alaska Young. Miles and Alaska are definitely the trouble making type. They're always pulling pranks on the "Weekday Warriors". Along the lines of all their mischief, Miles falls in love with Alaska. My connection to the book is just having fun, being a kid! An exciting part was in the beginning when Miles was in a deep sleep when a few Weekday Warriors snuck into his room. They drug him out to the lake, taped him up, and threw him in! My favorite passage was “You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking how you'll escape one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.” this was my favorite because it's so true for just about anyone. I would definitely recommend this book!

The book "Looking for Alaska" by John Green was a very well written book. I heard about the book and thought I should read it. The main character Miles "Pudge" moves to a new school where he meets some of his best friends, including Alaska Young, the girl that would change his life. Pudge and his friends pull pranks in hopes to mess with a group called the "Weekday Warriors". In the midst of it all Pudge falls for Alaska. Everything seems too good to be true, and Pudge was right. The most exciting part is when they pull the big prank! My connection is having fun! They all try to look on the bright side and enjoy their days. My favorite passage of the book is "At some point, you just have to pull off the band-aid it hurts but then its over and you're relieved." This is such a simple sentence with so much meaning behind it. It could be placed in any situation like getting hurt and having to face the pain because after everything it will be better. I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy thrills, romance, and mystery!
