In one month Jeremy Fink will turn thirteen. But does he have what it takes to be a teenager? He collects mutant candy, he won't venture more than four blocks from his apartment if he can help it, and he definitely doesn't like surprises. On the other hand, his best friend, Lizzy, isn't afraid of anything, even if that might get her into trouble now and then.
Jeremy's summer takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious wooden box arrives in the mail. According to the writing on the box, it holds the meaning of life! Jeremy is supposed to open it on his thirteenth birthday. The problem is, the keys are missing, and the box is made so that only the keys will open it without destroying what's inside. Jeremy and Lizzy set off to find the keys, but when one of their efforts goes very wrong, Jeremy starts to lose hope that he'll ever be able to open the box. But he soon discovers that when you're meeting people named Oswald Oswald and using a private limo to deliver unusual objects to strangers all over the city, there might be other ways of finding out the meaning of life.
Lively characters, surprising twists, and thought-provoking ideas make Wendy Mass's latest novel an unforgettable read.

This is a very interesting and inspiring book. Jeremy Fink received a box from his deceased dad a few weeks before his 13th birthday. He needed four special keys in order to open the box, but the lawyer his mother entrusted to keep the keys lost them, so he had to find them. He tried every way to open the box without those keys but didn’t succeed. Later he and his friend helped an old man deliver things because they went into the lawyer’s office without really asking and was forced to do community serve. While helping, they learned about other people's story and what people think about the meaning of life. At last, he found out that the old man they helped had the keys, but the old man didn't tell him because his father wanted Jeremy to have a special adventure. I like this book very much. After reading this, I learned that things may be different when we look at different point of views. The answer of life is in life. Overall, I recommend this book to everyone because we can learn many things from it.

I loved it i read it last year but still remember so much.much. OK so Jeremy has this box that his dad made him before he died.Simple instructions it said on the top DO NOT OPEN UNTIL THIRTEENTH BIRTHDAY .Also a problem...he needs a key..After him and his friend Lizzy lied about being somebody else family to get into a abandon part of a building(Lizzy's idea she likes to cause trouble .They are sent to community service. They work for this man and they have to return items that people have lost or sold a long time ago. Before the guy moves he lets them pick any thing out of his shop.Of course Jeremy pick the keys but you will be serprized with what Lizzy picks...........Read the book to find out more. P.S. Sortly after i read the book i asked my dad for the movie.Like alot of books and movies it left out a lot of stuff but it is awesome.
