I read this book as part of a book club, and I thought it was wonderful. Usually I don't find segregation-themed books interesting, but this one had a "special glow" to it, and I just had to give it a chance. It is about a girl in the 60's who is split apart by segregation. One cool fact I found out while reading is that this book is an autobiography of the author's life! If you like segregation stories, autobiographical books, and historical fiction, you will cherish this book! :)

This is one of my favorite books. It talks about Jacqueline growing up and how she moved, and her grandfather, and it is the best book ever and everyone should read it!
Brown girl dreaming is an account of Woodson’s family life and what is was like to grow up in the south and New York. This is a well written poetic story. It tells a touching true story of her thoughts on everything. I really enjoyed this moving story. Once you start reading you won’t stop until the end.
Brown Girl Dreaming is a truly inspiring book about Jacqueline Woodson herself. How she suffered so many tragedies and how she moved all the time. How her parents had separated and how much her brothers and sister suffered. But it also tells of good times and how the children's mother struggled to keep the family together during the segregation.
This was a wonderful book. Quick read and eye opening. You do feel sad for the main character.
This book so far is amazing. It's written in prose but every poem as you go along helps to tell a story. It is highly recommended by myself and my teacher who has also read it. This book is so interesting that I read 17 pages in 10 min. I never read that much even if I like the book.
