Malcolm is a small rat. When he becomes a classroom pet at McKenna elementary, he discovers there are more than just sweaty fifth graders. He finds out about the midnight academy, a group that consists of all the classroom pets in the school. He makes some friends, enemies, and becomes one of them. But then, the leader, a lizard named Aggy, goes missing, and all fingers are pointed at Malcolm. Will he prove he is a rat of valor and merit? Best book ever!

Malcolm is a class pet rat. But he is the only one who knows he is a rat. Everyone thinks he is a mouse. When at night, he wandered around the school, and found a society of class pets who secretly help the kids. They are the Midnight Academy. Malcolm joins the group, but everyone thinks he's a mouse. They seem to hold a grudge against rats, convincing Malcolm to claim he's a mouse. But when he learns of a cat went rogue and is apparently planning something large, but unknown. Malcolm makes 2 human friends that helps him solve the case. He is made an enemy of the Midnight Academy's big bunny. He befriends a barn owl and a fellow rat. The rat turns against him, and the owl eats the rat. In all the craziness he goes through, he saves the whole school from a disastrous gas leak.

Really good. It is about a mouse writing letters all about weird and coll stuff and happenings, ad a exciting book, but kind of lacks background.

This is an awesome book, that's in the form of a letter, about a rat. the letter is for the teacher and the student is writing about Malcolm's story. Secret societies, traitors, mistaken identities, and much more can be found in this book.

I found this book to be really intriguing... I mean after all how can it get more exciting since a mouse will be in a protection agency.... Well wrong! This book actually turned out to be better and better... After reading the synopsis in the bookstore, I decided to purchase it after hearing so many good reviews about it.... and they were right this adventurous book was filled with suspense slowly creeping on you! Meet Malcom being the litter at a pet store... Mr. Binney, a fifth grade teacher from McKenna Elementary School adopts him. After Malcom escapes from his cage, he goes in the library to meet up with the other animals where they formed a secretive agency. Malcom is not really trusted due to the fact he is a rat... and rats are not supposed to be trustworthy... but will Malcom not fulfill this title and to be the exact opposite: trustworthy? After the leader (an iguana) got kidnapped, does Malcom have what it seems to be: a side of him that will help out the team to search for the leader? Read and find out! WAIT!!!! Watch out for the cat... they may seem cute and all (well some are) but SNIP is not... he was abandoned by his owner... but still he is sneaky... I WILL REPEAT... he is sneaky... For fans of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh... or if you are looking for a suspenseful and a heart-warming story... this book is for you! READ!!!! :-)

This book is very, very good. It has a good plot line, well developed characters, and twists and turns that keep the reader hooked until the last page. Also, the writing style is engaging and funny. I highly recommend this book to any reader.
