This first book in The Cupcake Diaries is told through the perspective of Katie Brown. We find Katie miserable on the first day of middle school. Her best friend Callie came back from camp boy-crazy and part of a whole new group of friends. When it's made clear that Callie is in the PGC (Popular Girls Club) and Katie is not invited to join, Katie suddenly feels incredibly alone. Katie realizes if she’s going to survive middle school she needs to seriously regroup and find some new friends. But how? She bites into the cupcake her mother packed her for lunch and for a second closes her eyes. The sweet treat makes her happy—finally something goes right! Looking around her table, Katie notices the other students seeming a bit lost, as well. Which gives her an idea…With three new friends Katie forms a club as a way to spread the cupcake love and earn some cupcake cash.

I love cupcake dairies, and Katie is such a great baker! This book is for ages 8-12. This book is a must!!!! Read the series
I think this book is a good one! Katie’s start of middle school, does not go as planned. Her best friend Callie Wilson ditches her for the popular girls club. But then things start to go right. Katie meets this girl named Mia on the bus. Later they sit together at lunch. Two girls named Emma and Alexias also sit with them. The girls become instant friends. When Katie brings cupcakes to lunch, they have this idea of cupcake Friday. That’s how Katie met her new best friends and started the cupcake club.
Every book in the cupcake diaries series is a good one, and this is the first book in the series! Katie just entered middle school, and it's already a bust! Her best friend left to join the popular table, and Katie is alone. Lucky for her, she meets some new people who are happy to be her new friends. And Guess what? They like the same thing she does: Cupcakes! All four friends join together to create their own cupcake cub where they make and sell cupcakes! This book is fantastic!
This is a great book! I read it and if you love the series goes up to 30 something book! I LOVE it! Series goes Katie Mia Emma and Alexis! It starts that Katie’s NOT scared of middle school! Well she wrong! Her bff ditched her and her life is turned upside down. But then something happened. READ THE BOOK to find out!
This is the first book in the cupcake diaries books written by Coco Simon. Katie goes to the bus stop on the first day of middle school and is surprised when her best friend ditches her to walk to school with the popular girls. Katie sits on the bus, and a new girl named Mia sits next to her. They quickly become friends and then meet again during lunch. There they meet Alexis and Emma. The four of them quickly discover that they all have a similarity: They all love cupcakes! Together they decide to open a cupcake business. Will these best friends' cupcake business be a success? Read the book to find out out! This is a great book and if you like it you should read the rest of the series and the Sunday Sundaes series also by Coco Simon! Hope you enjoy the book!

Great book for kids in middle school or those who just want a good read. I read this a few years ago (in elementary school) and definitely loved it, but middleschoolers may have things they may be able too relate too in this book. :D
