This book is amazing. It's beautifully written and the characters are wonderful. And the twist at the end is so perfect. I didn't see it coming, but it made so much sense.Almost 11 years ago

Awesome book! It takes place in the summer of 1899 when "Callie Vee", an eleven year old girl, wonders about the different color grasshoppers in her yard. Through the book, Calpurnia becomes close to her grandfather who isn't the most social man. They have lots of bonding and learning time together. Turtle is an eleven year old girl who is living in the year of 1935. Her mother goes to work as a cleaning person for a woman who doesn't like kids. Then, Turtle is sent to Florida to live with her cousins. In Florida, Turtle becomes a different person and her world opens up. This is a great book!Almost 11 years agochloe4 has read this book.
