Copper Sun by Sharon M. Draper tells a heartbreaking story of a teenage girl that gets captured and is forced into slavery. It was a very touching story that many female slaves in the past and today are going through.

This was an interesting book that provided great insight into what it was like to be a slave. The description and details are vivid from the start of the journey to the end, and Sharon M. Draper has really allowed you to both empathize with characters and gasp at the horrors that face them.

I love this book, it allows you so see the way that life was in that time. Sharon M. Draper is an amazing artist, and I hope to read the rest of her books.

The other day my friend said that the topic of slavery has been overwritten. Personally I believe that stories of slavery, the Holocaust, and all other things like this have to be written until they stop. Until nothing like it ever happens again, and guess what they happen every day for example Kony 2012. Sharon M. Draper does an excellent job of capturing the horror of slavery and the corruption of that time.
