Nora Tucker is looking forward to summer vacation in Wolf Creek--two months of swimming, popsicles, and brushing up on her journalism skills for the school paper. But when two inmates break out of the town's maximum security prison, everything changes. Doors are locked, helicopters fly over the woods, and police patrol the school grounds. Worst of all, everyone is on edge, and fear brings out the worst in some people Nora has known her whole life. Even if the inmates are caught, she worries that home might never feel the same.

Told in letters, poems, text messages, news stories, and comics--a series of documents Nora collects for the Wolf Creek Community Time Capsule Project--Breakout is a thrilling story that will leave readers thinking about who's really welcome in the places we call home.

Just by the cover, I already want to read this book!!! It looks so good! And very intresting!

This book has become one of my favorite books ever! It’s full of mystery and makes you feel like you’re actually there. It follows a girl named Nora, who is looking forward to summer and relaxing, when suddenly, two inmates escape from the town high-security prison! Now, her life is turned upside down as the police try to catch the prisoners. I reccommend this book to anyone who loves a little mystery in their lives!

It is a really good book, and the way it is written is kind of cool. It is a reading bowl book in Georgia this year. really good.

This is such a good book it will keep you on the edge of your seat! If you love adventure with a little bit of mystery this is the book for you!!!!!!! There are 434 pages in the book! More to come Doggos!

I wanted to read this book because it looked interesting and it was a mystery book. It was very cool because it had different point of view. I recommend it to anyone who likes mystery and suspense.

Two inmates have escaped from the prison and everyone is gloomy these days.... Nora Tucker is bored of staying inside and wants to go out, her friend Lizzie is struggling with the fact that her grandmother helped the inmates......Elidee's brother Troy is in prison and Elidee is trying to make out the friends and foes of middle school. Also field day has closed bcs of the safety. Rasicm events ocour........will they ever find the inmates????

This book is a little confusing, but is a good read. This book is written in an interesting form, and has a good story where two inmates escape, and the town goes on lockdown.

Nora Tucker decides to participate in a summer project in a last-minute attempt to get some extra credit. Nothing new happens that she can journal....the same people, the same stores, the same old prison with the same old people in the same old cells....until two dangerous inmates escape. Everyone thinks they will be caught in hours. But the hours quickly turn to days, and the days escalate into weeks. Every second gets more dangerous. The inmates are nowhere to be found. Doors are locked, windows are shuttered, and neighbors turn to strangers. Can the criminals be found? Who will save the people in Wolf Creek? What will weeks of anxiety and strain do to people who you thought were friends? How much damage can maximum-security inmates do when they finally....Breakout!?

@bookstory13 what an awesome review! I gotta read this!

Thank you! And yes, you should! It's pretty great!

Breakout is a story told by notes, letters, text messages, and poems. In this book, Nora Tucker (Main character) thought that she could just swim in the pool and eat popsicles every day because it was summer. But when two inmates break out of Wolf Creek's most high security, everybody is forced to lock every door and window. Before this happened, it was a few weeks before the end of school and it was so close to Field Day. But because of the breakout, it was canceled and had to be substituted by playing games indoors. This book was also made because it was supposed to be made for a time capsule project. Kate Messner has yet again made everything understandable that everyone could feel the intensity rising even though you're just reading a book. I rate this book 5 stars because each page in this book is filled with perspectives and also words that were recorded. I hope you consider reading this book and if so, enjoy it!
