This is a beautiful movie with breathtaking animation and a compelling story. It is a movie that is highly recommended and it just might surprise you. With that said though, there are a few problems. As a movie this is great but as a sequel it isn’t as strong as the others. I do believe Toy Story 3 did have a better ending while Toy Story 4’s ending, while good, to me it felt kind of rushed. I remember watching a few interviews with the cast and how the ending made them shed a few tears but when I finally watched that ending, I didn’t feel as much emotion as I expected to. Some characters act kind of out of character and a lot of the main cast aren’t apart of the movie very much and stick to the sidelines while in the previous movies they are apart of the action. There are a lot of new characters that are fun and exciting but when I was watching the movie, I still had that reminder of the other characters being on the sidelines when they’re way more important than that. I think what’s stopping this movie from being as good as the others is just those older characters being put to the side as well a some of those out of character moments. I feel if the older characters were in the movie a lot more and the ending had been longer, the ending would’ve been more impactful on the audience and would’ve helped to improve and make the film better. With that said though, this is still a great film and it is something you should definitely check out. While I feel it is the weakest of the Toy Story movies, it is still a very enjoyable ride.
