Have you ever read or heard something and said to yourself, “Something isn’t right here. There’s more to the story.” That’s how Lark felt after reading a newspaper article on Swallowtail Island, where she and her sister, Pip, have a summer house that their mom left them after she died. Going to the island with Thomas, her stepdad (who loves family photos just a little too much), and her stepbrothers, she finds a newspaper article telling of a 75 year old tale of an accidental death. She is later hired to investigate the incident for a book as a favor for a friend of her late mother. Digging deeper, there is more to the story than meets the eye. Can Lark find the missing piece of the story before it affects a new friend of hers? This thrilling mystery will leave you on the edge of your seat! I would recommend this to someone 12-15.

Ah, soccer tryouts: the time of year where you do your best to impress the coach and get on the team. However, there is always at least one person who doesn’t make it. And Albert was that person. Dejected, as he heads home to take care of his grandma, he gets beamed up into an alien spaceship! There he meets Unit B who tells him about Johka. It is an alien version of soccer, and they want him on their team! Although, once Albert signs up and starts training, there are multiple attempts on his life. Who would do this? Why? I really liked this book! I would recommend this book to someone who loves soccer and sci-fi.

kruzingwithk9s's book review was featured in Soccer Trophy Mystery (Fred Bowen Sports Story Series, 24).
If you go to school in a public school, they may have a trophy case. This case will likely have trophies from soccer games, football, maybe a few others. But what if someone stole one of the trophies? Teenagers Ava, Daniel, and Aiden have just recently found out that a school soccer trophy went missing from the trophy case in the library 40 years ago. It stumped the police force and even detectives! 40 years later, it still hasn’t been found and the case was put aside. Curious (and trying to escape reading a boring book for English class) the three teenagers head out and start asking questions. Will they find out who stole the trophy? While I’m not too into sports, I do love mysteries and this one did not disappoint! I’d recommend this to someone who loves mysteries.
